by Brit Liggett, 07/05/11

Japan just announced that they’ve discovered a deposit of rare earth minerals off their coast in the Pacific Ocean that, if commercially viable, could change the worldwide market for the expensive materials. The deposit could yield as much as 80 to 100 billion tonnes of rare earth minerals and though Japan isn’t being specific about which materials they’ve found there, it is likely to contain gold and copper. China currently holds an estimated 97% of the world’s stores of rare earth minerals, which are used in many high tech gadgets like solar panels, cell phones, television sets and vehicles. Will Japan’s find change all of that?

Just so long as they don’t find any sakuradite. ^_^

So, anyway, here we go—these caps are all from K-ON! (that’s K-ON’s first season, note the single exclamation mark).
Sadly, I don’t remember what is written on Richan’s forehead.
Bur her expression is pretty much priceless.
Don’t know why this made me laugh out of context. It only amuses me now all these months later.

Ah, Yui. Always adorable…I want to learn to draw as well as this!

That’s it for now. I watch LOADS of anime, so expect MANY more caps, soon.

I forget which ep this was, but the following pics come from the ep that got me completely hooked on K-ON! Ah, don’t come to America in February, then. That’s when we celebrate Black History Month! ALMOST fanservice! What I … Continue reading →

I forget which ep this was, but the following pics come from the ep that got me completely hooked on K-ON!

Ah, don’t come to America in February, then. That’s when we celebrate Black History Month!

ALMOST fanservice!

What I love about K-ON! is that they let women be legitimately funny. So few American shows allow women to be funny on their own. At best they’re funny because of the way they are women. (Yes, there are exceptions, but rare ones).

And what does she do?

Then she picks up Gittah (Yui’s guitar) and…

And in case you didn’t know, Stan “The Man” Lee shows up through out the Heroman show. Here he is in the opening titles for the second half of the series.

He even has a couple of lines in some of the eps. Of course, he speaks Japanese, but maybe if the show ever makes it to the US, we’ll get to hear Stan Lee’s own voice. :)

I enjoy Heroman, but stars don’t float in front of my eyes when I think about him. Ah, here we go—this scene was both adorable in its awkwardness and awkward in its adorableness (aka pretty realistic for how it would really be, were a dorky kid at the beach with a hot cheerleader).

Joey, have you forgot the shockingly hot Lina next to you? Guess not:

OMG!

HEY! WATCH THE LEFT HAND, LADY! WATCH THE LEFT HAND!

Uh, someone should have informed the animators that you’re not going to find a single octopus in the waters off of souther California (where Heroman takes place—check out this previous J-Meds post and scroll to the bottom pic for a cool tidbit about the show’s location).

Now it’s Joey’s hand on *her* ass.

…or not.

This is from a different scene. I think she’s about to get attacked by tentacled vegetable monsters.

And again…

And again…

Now the tentacles are after all of them!!!

Japan and their tentacles!!! (Now I understand that octopus showing up in the waters off of SoCal—it’s a Japanese thing!)
