Did you know that there are more homeless people in Los Angeles than any other American city?
According to the 11/30/5 podcast of Which Way LA, (learn more about by heading over to its official page at KCRW.org) there are over 90,000 homeless people in Los Angeles.
According to an aid worker interviewed on the podcast, there are only 18,000 beds in shelters across LA County. That leaves over 70,000 homeless people wandering the streets of Los Angeles. I passed three of them on my way to the Subway restaurant down the street from my favorite Internet cafe.
Many people think homeless people should just solve their problems by getting a job.
Think the LA Times has 70,000 job listings? Do you think all the classified sections of all the newspapers in LA could possibly have 70,000 job listings?
Nailed ya, didn’t I?
