If you’re just joining us (you know who you are) The 5 Minute Show was a video podcast I started waaay back in 2003, long before podcasts were video–which is probably why T5MS never got that popular. I stopped doing it shortly after the war broke and resumed shooting it in April of 2006 only to cease production again in December. Still, I think we did some fun (if not always good) work so I’m slowly reposting them all in the hopes that someone, somewhere, will find them interesting. The short version: A documentary I contributed news footage to (a documentary by Oscar nominated documentarian, Dorothy Fadiman) will be screening in movie theaters starting August 1, 2008. It’s a movie about election irregularities in all major elections since 2000, but it mostly focuses on the big elections. I feel strongly that this is an important movie and it needs to be seen by as many people as possible. The long version: A couple years back I was contacted by Oscar nominated documentarian, Dorothy Fadiman (http://www.imdb.com/…nm0264936/ ), regarding any news footage I may have recorded during the election mess from 2000 and 2004. I believe in documenting big events by recording news coverage, so I happened to have a nice little library from 2004 and a few clips from 2000, which I sent out to her as she needed them over the following years.
Finally, she’s finished it up and it will be screening at certain theaters across the country before it is made available on DVD.

So, yesterday we were out and about again, as usual, this time despite the heat. We traveled mostly by rail so it wasn’t too bad. However by the end of the day a nice thunderstorm rolled in and cooled things down a bit. And I mean a BIT. We still slept with the fans aimed directly at the sofa bed.
Oh and one other thing, I was putting together the title cards late last night and my writing was not the best–I think one of the title cards has more "the’s" in it than "War and Peace." Sorry about that. I try to proofread everything, but I was tired and wanted to go to bed.

Three years after the last episode (episode 12) of the 5 Minute Show was shot I asked my friends if they wanted to go back to making more eps of T5MS and they said yes! Sadly, most of them kind of lost interest after a handful of episodes, so I found NEW friends to help me! But that’s later. This episode originally posted on April 1, 2006 and does deal with the war and stuff, but it’s pretty damn funny, I like to think.

OK, this is the final episode of t5MS before a LONG break. See, it’s hard to make funny when the war is on your mind. I don’t know how Jon Stewart and his writers do it 4 days a week. This episode of The 5 Minute Show was shot the day I learned that the US had invaded Iraq. I found this pretty disturbing and felt weird about doing a “funny” video show that week, so I didn’t. Don’t worry, I don’t stay serious very long after this episode. In fact, this is the second-to-last episode of The 5 Minute Show before a rather long hiatus. But don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing :D
I’m FINALLY starting to post my videos of me messing around with my XO. Here’s the first one–It demonstrates one of the bugs XO users (XOsers?) who got their XOs in December of 2007 had to deal with. On connecting to another XO for chat (or through a simulated Mesh network–xochat.org) the chat activity contained a bug that made the program virtually unusable. While the bug was eventually taken care of, it is a good indicator on how the XO’s Sugar operating system was not quite ready for primetime.
