Yeah, I know Prop 8 is in CA but hey, we’ve got to do something about
all these pissed off gays living in the same city as me! ;P
Here they are! All the good pics that I took (and a few taken by TheWife or our new friend & fellow Daily Show/Colbert fan, Carrie) in the evening of November 4, 2008 when we were down in Times Square. What were we doing down there? Hm, it’s tough to remember! Perhaps the pictures might provide a clue!
(Hint: some dude called Barack got elected president!)

TheMe and my old college buddy Stew as some dude from “Venture Bros.” I’m sorry–I never watch that show :\
He is pretty intimidating, though, isn’t he? His flames actually lit up, btw. :)
Here’s a better shot of TheWife and I on Halloween night. Isn’t my mask spooky? The eyes will actually follow you around! :P
I did get quite a few more reactions from my mask than I expected. No one I didn’t already know recognized it, but people thought it was unique and therefore cool :)
I snapped this on my way to catch a train (I’m SO New Yorky!).
That’s a table set up by Scientology recruiters–right in front of GIANT Dexter billboards in the 42nd St subway station. Oddly ironic placing an alleged religious recruitment table in front of ads for a TV show about a serial killer. I’m thinking that’s a serious mixed message.
Talk about weird coincidence. TheWife and I went out to see "W." tonight (watch for a Pocket Review tomorrow) and who does @Siskita notice on the way out but the guy who directed the damn film!
How do ya like that? Come all the way from Los Angeles to the Big Apple and we bump into a filmmaker. Go fig. Just wish I had a copy of my book on me. It’s jammed with conspiracy stuff–he’d totally love it.
The good news is that "W." is well done. The odd news is that it’s not a terribly deep film and seems to take only from the media as its source. Still that doesn’t stop it from being entertaining.
When I shook his hand I told him the movie was great–I probably should have said "very good" instead. Ah well. I’ve met famous people before and I still get a little starstruck–even though I think he’s kind of an asshole in real life. Still, he’s a great filmmaker.
ANYway, watch for my review tomorrow :)

So, TheWife picked me up a pair of these cool, uber-warm wool-esque socks to keep my feet from being cold as winter in NYC approaches (1st east coast winter for us!). On the bottom of these socks there are traction, uh, things. They stick to the floor and happen to be made to look like a word. On each sock the word is “dream”. Not sure what the idea is here, but I thought it was pretty ironic. Every time I take a step in them, I’m stepping on my own dreams. o_O
I’m not sure how effective this thing is, but it sure was neat to wander through and around it. When in Battery Park, the Irish Hunger Memorial is worth a visit.

Is this not one of the more impressive façades you’ve ever seen on a
train station?
I’ve been to New York City a couple dozen times during my life and I
don’t think I’ve ever seen the outside of it before today. Damn impressive.
Too bad no one designs buildings like this anymore.
FINALLY GOT UBUNTU ON MY XO! Only to discover the trackpad is unusable and I can’t find the Internet settings.
I’m at the ahmanson waiting for avenue q to start!
Ah, the beloved newbev!
If you can’t tell by now, I highly recommend this place like crazy. While it’s not the best theater in the world, it does run a great variety of movies with something for everyone. They do need to turn on the AC for the more packed houses, though. That said, what theater do YOU know that runs double features like the above pictured one and charge just $7 to get in?
Yeah, exactly.
None.
So, if you’re in LA, check out NewBevCinema.Com and spend some time at the New Bev and remember what a real movie-going experience is like. I’m there doing exactly that almost every weekend. (If I had a stable income I’d be there absolutely every weekend.)
Me and TheWife trapped in the phantom zone.
Waiting in line for a great dub feature!
Just thought this was a cool shot. Don’t ask me why. Seriously. Don’t
ask…
Placed by the Gideons… these guys are EVERYwhere! Oh by the way, it’s
bloody well 100 degrees here. o_O
Here we are outside the Palm Springs (we think) visitor’s center. Very
beautiful area. Watch my Flickr for more pics of this area in the next
couple days.
Me and TheWife heading out to Palm Desert for a night of wedding
anniversary celebrations and not-being-in-LA-ness.
